Worship in 3 Dimensions: Worship | Word | Workshop

Our Saturday worship service is a casual atmosphere with casual dress, coffee in the sanctuary and a simple worship band. After all, it is Saturday night.

Schedule

30 minutes of praise and worship

30 minutes of teaching

30 minutes of round table discussion

What is it?

The Way is simply an early Biblical name for Christianity.

In Acts 24:14, Paul describes followers of “The Way” as those who:

  1. Worship the God of our fathers.
  2. Embrace the Scriptures
  3. Hope toward a better future.

At Grace Temple, on Saturday nights, we strive to do just as Paul described:

  1. Worship as families
  2. Hear a practical, hopeful message
  3. Study and discuss the scriptures together.

Innovation

The Way is an innovative model of Christian worship.

  1. It is designed for busy people because it offers worship, teaching, and small group study in one 90 minute experience.
  2. It is done at round tables so the atmosphere is more cozy, relaxed, and relational.
  3. We worship together as families. Church in the 21st century is usually segregated by age. During The Way, our children worship alongside parents.
  4. All discussions are themed, so while we divide children and adults for discussion, they are learning the same things on age-appropriate levels. That means that the whole family – young children, youth, and adults - all study the same material each Saturday, and they can discuss the lesson at home.
  5. Since discussion immediately follows sermon, discussion happens while the mind is still stirred from the teaching.

Discipleship

Through the years, we have seen the workshop discussion format consistently produce more developed disciples than preaching alone.

Discussion format engages people with their Bible. It cements what they have just heard in the sermon, helps them learn how to get truth from the scripture for themselves, and offers them a chance to express their own opinions. We can also sometimes learn more from each other than we learn from the main speaker.

Community

Table and discussion format offers instant “small group” connection and feel without asking the person to return for another day.

The relaxed nature of sitting together and talking about things that matter creates an opportunity to make connections quickly and form new friendships.

Inviting

Many people work on Sundays, or they work nights, they consider Sunday a family day, or they are simply not morning persons. Saturday night may create an opportunity for them to worship when they otherwise might not be able.

The Process

Workshop:

When discussion time comes, adults, youth, and children will all move to appropriate tables for discussion with prepared leaders.

Children:

Our goal is to create a family atmosphere. Initially we will have children above nursery age in the sanctuary with us. They will sit with their parents for worship and teaching. Since everyone will be seated at tables, parents may bring coloring sheets, snacks, etc. that will occupy children if necessary. For the discussion time, we will provide children’s leaders at designated children’s tables for age-appropriate discussion and activities.

Youth and College tables are also provided
